Polar Bears by Emily Gines

Polar Bears
By: Emily Gines

For my animal report I am doing the Polar Bear.  I chose this animal because, when I was younger I loved Polar Bears.  Anyway, lets get started!
I am going to tell you what a Polar Bear looks like.  They are 8 feet tall and can weigh up to 1,600lbs.  The color of the Polar Bear is, white.  These are some of the Polar Bear’s features. They also have thick fur to keep them warm and sharp claws to grip onto the ice.
Some favorite food of the  Polar Bear are;  fish, salmon is its favorite, seals, watermelon and seaweed.
The Polar Bear lives on a few different continents. Some of those are: North America and Eurasia.  Some countries the Polar Bear can be found in are; Canada and Greenland.  The special habitat of the Polar Bear is in Antarctica.
The Polar Bear travels by walking on all four legs.  The Polar Bear has a very loud roar to scare predators away.
The Polar Bear hunts alone unless they are hunting for fish.
The Polar Bear is not allowed as a pet.  It is also not used as a work animal.  People do use the Polar Bear for food by hunting them and use the warm fur for clothing.
Some interesting facts about the Polar Bear are; really good swimmers, its fur is used as camouflage when they are being hunted and when they are hunting and they can live up to 30 years old.  The Polar Bear also hunts near where it lives.
I think the Polar Bear is a super cool animal.  And if they weren’t so big and dangerous I would totally have one as a pet!

The Great White Shark by Chase

The Great White Shark

I did research about the Great White Shark. I picked this animal because it is my favorite animal. I already know what it eats, how many teeth it loses, and how long it can survive without food. Great Whites are an amazing animal.
The Great White is gray and white in color. It can grow from 5 feet to 32 feet. The Great White can weigh anywhere from 1,500lbs to 4,500lbs. It has gray on the top of its body and white on the bottom, making it perfect for camouflage.
Great Whites will eat anything. Scientists once cut open a Great White and found deer antlers, a license plate, and a credit card. Great Whites favorite meal is a seal. Great Whites attack from below to catch their prey.
A Great White lives in the ocean and can be found in most parts of the world. It will not be found in cold water, which means it will not be found in either the arctic ocean or the antarctic ocean, but it will be near all the other continents with warm, temperate waters. But it must be salt water, it cannot survive in fresh water.
Now, I will tell you about how the Great Whites travel, what sounds they make, and how it lives. They move by using its powerful caudal (tail fin) to move swiftly through the water. The Great White does not make any sounds, not surprisingly. The Great White does not live in a shiver, also known as a group, it always lives alone.
The Great White effects humans by either eating humans or being eaten by humans. Humans like their taste and eat them in sushi. However, sharks will eat humans but usually because they have mistaken them for a seal. Sharks are also used as decorations. Humans like to collect their teeth and jaws.
Some interesting facts about the shark is that the mother Great Whites only see their pups as prey. Most sharks do not survive their first year because other bigger sharks may eat them. When a Great White loses its teeth another one grows back to replace it. It is like a conveyor belt. Once one tooth gets off there is always another one coming.
The National Geographic Kids once quoted “Sharks swallow food whole. They can last a month or two without another big meal.” Nancy Ellwood and Nancy Perish, who wrote Sharkpedia said, “Great Whites are a rare species.”
In conclusion, I wanted to learn if sharks are mammals. Because they are born alive and swallow air. But they are not mammals, they are classified a fish. Another weird and scary fact is that Great Whites are born 5 feet long. I got most of my information from Sharkpedia, National Geographic Kids, and Shark Wikipedia.

Rabbits by Harrision

I am going to write about rabbits. I know rabbits are really quiet. It is fun to watch them run and play. They can even live in your backyard.
Rabbits are 2 feet tall and they are not that heavy. They should be 3-9 lbs. They are hard to spot because of their white and brown can blend into leaves. Other rabbits could be
smaller. Other rabbits are not taller than this.
Rabbits use their teeth to eat plants. They eat grass anywhere. They will eat hay from farms. Also, they eat other plants. They do not eat bugs!
They live in lots of places. You can find them in Mexico, United States and Canada. You can find them in deserts and grasslands too, even in your backyard! Now you can find them easy.
Rabbits travel by hopping. I do not think they walk. It’s best if they hop. Kangaroos hop just like rabbits. Other animals do walk.
They do not live in groups. I think they can get killed. They can get spotted and die because of groups. Birds high in the air can see them. Snakes on the ground get them too.
It affects people by scratching and biting. They can sneak and eat your crops.
People cannot catch them because they are fast. I do not know what else they can do.
What is interesting about rabbits is how fast they are for a little one. Their legs are strong to hop.
They are really quiet when they hop. They can also cool down with their ears. They are sneaky too. They are friendly if you are nice. They use their paws like a wash cloth to clean them.
If a rabbit thumps it means danger.

All about jackals by Gracie

All About Jackals

I choose the jackal.  I choose it because I could not do a dog , so I did a jackal.   I did not really know much about the jackal.   All I knew about the jackal is that they are cool.

Do you know what a jackal looks like?  Well, I will tell you.   Jackals are 30-50 in.tall.  They are 2-75 kg..   They are a mix of these colors: brown, gray, red/orange, and black.  Jackals have long legs to run long distances.  They are active at dawn and dusk.  They are very cunning .  ‘Jackals are very territorial.  They mark and defend their territory.’ says Victor Gentle and Janet Perry.
I guess you guys are dieing to know what jackals eat. Lucky you , you have me tell you.  Jackals are omnivores.  This means they eat both plants and animals.  Jackals are famous scavengers.  That means that if a cheetah or another animal kills something and leaves it, the jackals come and eat the leftovers.
You are probably thinking where the heck do jackals live. Guess what I know where they live.  I guess I could tell you.  The continent they live on is Africa.  The country the live on is Southern Eurasia.  Their habitats are savannas, woodlands, and desserts.  There, you happy now.
A jackal likes to travel in groups.  I do not know why though.Jackals bark, yelp, howl, and screams.  Jackals mate with another jackal then have a family then becomes a group.
A big thing that affects both humans and jackals.  Humans kill jackals.  They want to have their fur for clothes.  We have to stop this terrible thing.
Some very interesting things are: jackals are endangered.  A quote from Victor Gentle and Janet Perry is, ‘The young jackals become ‘helpers’ who feed and protect the new pups.’  Another quote by the same people is,’When they are 12 weeks old , pups get to go on ‘field trips’ to hunt with their parents.’’  Pretty interesting, right?
I learned a lot of things about jackals.  I think they are cool animals.  I learned that jackals are omnivores.  I also learned that jackals like to live and travel in groups.  Thanks for listening. Have a nice day!

Koalas by Sabrina

I have learned a lot about koalas. I chose them because I really like koalas. Some things I already knew are they are very furry in many places. Also, their fur is grey and white. Also, they live in Australia, and they climb a lot of trees . They live in groups.
Here are some interesting facts about what koalas look like. They grow to 2-3 feet tall. They only weigh up to 20 pounds. Their fur is usually a grey and mixture. The victoria koala can absorb heat through its fur. John Wexo wrote, “ In fact, koalas look so much like like living teddy bears that people still call them koala bears.” Also, when koalas are born they are the size of a jelly bean. The also have claws on their hands and feet.
Do you have any idea what koalas eat? Here are some things they eat. As a baby they eat pap which is a part of the mothers intestines, which is only bacteria. Aso, they drink milk too. Koalas eat leaves and other plants because they are herbivores. John Wexo wrote” Some koalas only 2 or 3 kinds of leaves.”
Do you know where koalas live? Well I am going to tell you. The continent they live in is Australia. The country they live in is Australia. Their habitat is a grassland, even though they spend most of the time in trees.
Koalas travel by walking in trees. They stay on by holding on with their claws. Also as a baby you can hold on to the mama of that baby koala. Some sounds a koala makes is a cough, grunt, or roar. Koalas travel in groups called, Phascolarctidae.
Do you know what koalas are used for? They are used for their fur. Also, a design on a tee shirt. Plus, you can see them in a zoo anywhere. Did you know that a few things are named after koalas, such as when you hang from bars a special way it is called koala hanging. Do you know any interesting facts about koalas? well I will tell you some. believe it or not koalas have a pouch. Baby koalas are not called baby koalas, they are scientifically named joeys. Koalas live up to 20 years old, and they are actually mammals. Their hands look like they have 2 thumbs and 3 fingers, and their feet look like they have bubbles where the bones go. Did you know that koalas and kangaroos are related because they both are marsupials. John Wexo wrote,” Koalas must cross ground to get to get to feeding ground.”
In conclusion, I have done a lot of research on koalas. I have learned that koalas like to eat leaves, milk, and pap. A few sounds a koala makes are grunt, roar, and cough. The habitat koalas live in is a grassland with a lot of trees because koalas climb in trees with their claws. Do you know how big a joey is, it is the size of a jelly bean!

Galapagos Tortoise by Truman

Have you ever wondered Galapagos Tortoise looks like? Or what it is ,it is a 600 pound Galapagos Tortoise. I have been doing some research on it. I will tell you a little bit about it.
First, I will tell you about what they look like. They are 2 feet tall and weigh 600 pounds or less. They are greenish and brown. They have thick claws to dig. Also thick scales to protect them from their predators.
Second, I will explain how how eat and what they eat. They eat leafs by using their long necks and getting to small branches. They eat grasses and weed. They eat fruits off of small branches.
Third, were the Galapagos Tortoise lives. The Galapagos Tortoise only lives in one place. It lives on the Galapagos island with only a few other of its kind. The habitat is a forest habitat with lots of shrub and leafs.
Fourth, how it travels, sounds it makes, and how it lives. It travels on its giant feet. Some people say its feet look like elephant feet. The sounds it makes are, sound of joy. Sound of happiness. All of these sounds happen when they meet a mate. How it lives, they dig holes to get cooler or more warm. They can live for 1 year without food or water. It stretches out its long neck to get leafs from small tree branches.
Fifth, how they affect people, people use them for clothing. People use them for shoes. People make hats out of them.
Sixth, some interesting facts are, some can fit into tiny cracks. Some can dig holes 30 feet deep! They are a really badly endangered species.
Seventh, quotes are, in Grolier world encyclopedia of endangered species said “Galapagos Tortoises are badly endangered”. Sandiegozoo.org said how “Galapagoes Tortoises survive”. Sandiegozoo.org said how “Galapagos Tortoises adapt to different climates”.

Eighth, what I want to know, and what I learned. What I want ot know, what do tortoises eat? How do they live? How do they eat? How heavy is their shell? Why are they so slow? What I learned, they do not hibernate because they are too slow. They dig 30 feet deep holes. Some can squeeze into tiny cracks. They live for 155 years, and they are a badly endangered species.

How To Avoid a Shark Attack by Chase Ohran

How To Avoid a Shark Attack

by Chase Ohran

What you need           What you want
fist                               Shark cage, bang stick, life jacket, harpoon.

Are you scared of the ocean because of the sharks? Well are you? If you are than read this how to. Once you are done I bet that you won’t be scared of the ocean.

  1. Don’t  go too far  from shore because not that many sharks go too close to shore. If you do go too far from shore and a shark bites you then try to punch it in the eye or close to the eye because the eye is a sharks weak spot.
  2. If you are cut than stay out of the water because sharks can smell one drop of blood from a mile away. If you start to bleed than get out but if you see someone bleeding than stay out of the water.

  1. If you have a bang stick than don’t use the bang stick as a toy. If a shark is coming for you then use it.
  2. Don’t touch a shark they like their space. If you do touch a shark then swim away as fast as you can to shore.

  1. Don’t go swimming at dawn because sharks hunt at night. If you do than I can not help you just swim at your own risk.
  2. Don’t swim without a buddy because shark might bite you. If you do swim with a buddy  then thats good for you.
  3. Don’t swim with shiny jewels sharks think you are a shiny fish.

Well we meet again. Are you still scared of the ocean? Well if you are scared then thats bad. But if you are not than I was right.             THE END.
